august break: i went to walmart :(

my friend and i were out to prove there is plenty to do on a monday night in our town. we failed (duh!) but had fun trying.

first we had all-you-can-eat wings at Gator's Dockside. well, i didn't have wings. instead, i had a mushroom swiss burger which was mediocre at best. then, we stopped for ice cream at a local staple that i had never been to. i had a marshmallow milkshake. i think that's code for "glorified vanilla shake".

after driving around trying to find any open store around 9:30 pm, i broke my #1 rule: NO WALMART

we modeled hats, hula hooped, rode mini bikes and played with Angry Birds plushies. all within 15 minutes of curfew!

this town needs something to do!! 

august break: breakfast in Ocala

last sunday, my sister left town to go to school in Ocala for two weeks. we left early to get breakfast at Panera and look around town.

usually i hit Starbucks for a venti soy iced caramel macchiato first and then get breakfast at Panera. but i decided to just get coffee there and it wasn't too bad. i got a caramel latte, a little sweet for my taste.

there isn't much to do in Ocala, the same as our town. but they do have more stores. a plus! we ran in to Old Navy real quick. still looking for a top for my black and white chiffon skirt. i wanted chambray, but that's just not happening. any suggestions? i really don't want white or black and i'm running out of time and options :(

august break: day 16

i didn't think it would happen but i love this ring. it has become a near everyday staple for me because it goes with everything!

i also like that it's on-trend for the fall tribal kind of look. sadly, i cannot claim this find. it was a thoughtful gift from some friends. at first i didn't like it at all and was kind of in shock (why would they think i like that!) and so i figured i would wear it once, just to show my appreciation. but then i kept looking at it and looking at it on my hand and it was amour!

we're getting ever closer to the convention and i'm a hot mess. clothes-wise, everything was going great but i'm having such a hard time finding a top that's not black or white (or worse, red!) for my ASOS striped skirt. and worse yet, my black CK dress is a tad too short and resembled a dress my best friend has so that has to be shipped back. and money, as always, is tight.

so we'll see~

august break: saturdaaays

random television i found just sitting in someone's yard. welcome to the south ;)

trying to find something to occupy my time today since i'm all by my lonesome. i'll probably pop in a few netflix dvds and chill out with a soy iced chai latte. sounds niiice, don't it?

august break: drew a little something

i can't believe i found this baby at the top of my closet. it's a drawing i did for design school. i don't remember exactly what the assignment was but i passed so that's all that matters. i need to find a frame for this!

august break: happy anniversary!

 

there's no anniversary being celebrated here. and those aren't candles either. that's what my aunt said when she dropped half of a strawberry cake off at our house today. at 11 o'clock this morning!

i'm not complaining. dessert anyone??

august break: face makeup routine

i'm your classic makeup junkie. i buy anything and everything i see, especially if it's in cute packaging :3

face makeup isn't my thing though. so i was glad to find MAC's Select Sheer powder. it's very lightweight and i just use a small brush to cover any imperfections on my T-Zone (which tends to get very oily throughout the day).

bronzer. yes. always.

and then when i'm done with everything i blend some microfinish powder on mah face and go. for darker skintones, you really have to blend this stuff or you'll look ashy! not cute.

 

august break: hair dos

like the certified genius that i am, i decided to get longer hair during the worst summer of all time. you know it's bad when Florida isn't the only state suffering!

i found a headscarf tying tutorial here. keiko does it very simply and it's so easy to follow, i kind of feel dumb that i couldn't figure it out by myself haha. most days i've been keeping my hair up and off my neck as much as possible. especially since i'll be spending most of my time outdoors this month (unfortunately >:P).

august break: milady likes to shop

been a little shopping crazy these past months. i wanted to get a head start on convention shopping.

back in the day, convention shopping was a huge family event. conventions were in june/july, so we would start looking for clothes and shoes in april. this entailed loooong shopping days in different parts of the state. fun.

in 2006, my mom went to Germany for a week and left the convention shopping up to my dad (which was awesome because we pretty much got whatever we wanted). that's when it became less of an event and more of hassle. my mother no longer enjoyed convention shopping. we started going to stores closer to home. my aunt, cousins and grandmother no longer tagged along. then after my sister and i got our licenses,  she stopped coming all-together. this is starting to sound like some sort of dramatic saga, but it's not that big of a deal…really.

now the majority of my convention shopping is done via the internet. i'm not complaining though. i hate malls. right now i'm still looking for tops and unfortunately, the green skirt is too big (yay weight watchers that i stopped three months ago!) so i ordered a cream colored replacement in a smaller size.

i'm trying out the Senseo machine my mom got from a friend. my coffee looked so pretty this morning! but i'm probably going to stick with my chai latte for a while.
